Q & A with Mark Redmond

In this Q&A, Mark shares his insights on running a chauffeur service, his approach to customer care, and some of his favourite hidden spots around the country.

What inspired you to transition from the hospitality industry to running a chauffeur service?

After years in hospitality, I found that the soaring costs and demanding hours were no longer paying off. It was becoming increasingly hard to justify the long hours. I wanted a change that still allowed me to work with people but with a better balance. As someone who genuinely enjoys driving and visiting Ireland’s beautiful destinations, starting a chauffeur service felt like the perfect fit. This way, I can share the best of Ireland with clients while doing what I love most.

How has your experience in hospitality shaped the way you operate Chauffeur Service Dublin?
In hospitality, attention to detail is everything. I’ve brought that same mindset to Chauffeur Service Dublin, focusing on making every journey comfortable and stress-free. Whether it’s ensuring the car is spotless, being punctual, or tailoring the experience to the client’s preferences, it’s all about going above and beyond to meet individual needs.

What do you enjoy most about providing chauffeur services?
I love that every day is different. Ireland has such a vibrant mix of history, culture, and energy. Meeting clients who are just as excited to explore the country as I am to show it to them keeps things fresh and rewarding. There’s a special satisfaction in knowing I’m helping people travel in comfort and style, whether they're here for business or pleasure.

What makes your chauffeur stand out from other transportation options?
Our service is built on a commitment to quality and personalisation. From the first booking to the last drop-off, we aim to make each experience uniquely suited to the client’s needs. I understand that each client has different priorities, so whether it’s a quick airport transfer or a full-day city tour, I make sure that every journey feels effortless and enjoyable.

How do you ensure clients feel comfortable and valued throughout their journey?
It all comes down to listening and anticipating needs. I pay attention to the details, whether it's providing the perfect music playlist, adjusting the temperature, or even sharing some local insights along the way. I treat every client like a guest, ensuring they feel at ease and valued from the moment they step into the car.

What are your favourite hidden gems in Dublin that you recommend to clients?
Ireland is filled with hidden treasures beyond the usual landmarks. Some of my personal favourites include the Slieve League Cliffs in Donegal, which offer breath-taking views without the crowds you’d find at the Cliffs of Moher. Gougane Barra in Cork is another gem—a peaceful spot with a beautiful lake and forest that’s perfect for a quiet escape.

For those interested in history, I’d recommend the Rock of Dunamase in Laois, where you can explore ancient castle ruins with stunning countryside views. If you’re in the mood for scenic drives, the Vee Pass between Waterford and Tipperary is a must, especially when the rhododendrons bloom in spring.  For a unique coastal experience, Killary Harbour in Galway, Ireland’s only fjord, is always a hit. Each of these spots offers a true taste of Ireland’s beauty and character.
